Mongol Rally

It’s not clever, it’s not safe, you might not finish but it is the greatest adventure on the planet and it’s ready and waiting to drop you off a cliff of adventure. You’re sweating profusely. You’re 100 miles from anything resembling a building. All around you is endless wilderness. Your rally car has only 3 wheels left and the steering wheel just came off in your hands. Before you is 1000 more miles of off road that would make a Land Rover die of fear, and you forgot to pack any tools or a map. This is the moment you know you are on the Mongol Rally.

10,000 miles across deserts, mountains and steppe in a car your granny would be embarresed by.

As a team on the Mongol Rally we ask you to raise a minimum of £1000 for charity, at least £500 of which goes to the official charity: Cool Earth. Along with the teams on the other adventures, you'll be saving the world one rainforest at a time. Not because we’re tree hugging sandal weavers, but because the world would be awful without them.

Sábado

"E será que desde uma lua nova até à outra, e desde um sábado até ao outro, virá toda a carne a adorar perante mim, diz o Senhor." Isaías 66:23-24

Eternidade. Santidade. Deus. Centro. São algumas das palavras que este texto me lembra. Quem é realmente Deus. Será que sabemos? Será que entendemos porque este Deus Infinito e Todo-Poderoso quer apenas uma coisa? O nosso amor. Quer ser nosso amigo e viver connosco para sempre.

O Sábado deve ser o inicio do Céu. A porta de entrada. A embaixada da pátria celeste. Como devemos guardar o Sábado? Temo que todos sabemos, e a maior parte das vezes falhamos. Mas Deus quer dizer-nos como. No fundo é simples. É uma questão de prioridade. É um relacionamento. É passar tempo de qualidade com o nosso melhor amigo.

Pensem nisso. Bom Sábado. :)

Perfecting Character

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
(Matthew 5:48)

Christ has given us no assurance that to attain perfection of character is an easy matter. A noble all-round character is not inherited. It does not come to us by accident. A noble character is earned by individual effort through the merits and grace of Christ. God gives the talents, the powers of the mind; we form the character. It is formed by hard, stern battles with self. Conflict after conflict must be waged against hereditary tendencies. We shall have to criticize ourselves closely, and allow not one unfavorable trait to remain uncorrected.

Let no one say, I cannot remedy my defects of character. If you come to this decision, you will certainly fail of obtaining everlasting life. The impossibility lies in your own will. If you will not, then you cannot overcome. The real difficulty arises from the corruption of an unsanctified heart, and an unwillingness to submit to the control of God.
